A medical elective is a short-term educational programme designed to provide medical students with valuable practical exposure before beginning their professional careers. The programme offers international medical students the opportunity to gain experience within the Sri Lankan healthcare system through short-term elective placements.
Our Medical Elective programme works in collaboration with government hospitals in Sri Lanka. These healthcare placements allow medical students to experience the country's healthcare system firsthand and gain insight into its busy and diverse medical environment. Students can participate in their selected departments and healthcare settings, working alongside both Sri Lankan and international medical students.
Through our partnership with Karapitiya National Hospital, students have the opportunity to observe experienced local consultants, doctors, and nursing staff working across different hospital wards and departments. This experience allows students to broaden their clinical knowledge while gaining an understanding of healthcare practices within Sri Lanka.
